Introduction into Contrast Therapy

Contrast therapy has long been used as type of treatment that involves alternating between hot and cold temperatures to stimulate the body's natural healing processes. It has been used for centuries in various cultures to promote healing, reduce pain, and enhance overall well-being.

The principle behind contrast therapy is that when the body is exposed to hot temperatures, blood vessels dilate, allowing more blood flow to the affected areas and the overall body. This increased blood flow brings oxygen and nutrients to the tissues, which helps to promote healing and reduce inflammation, at the same time the increased work load from your cardiovascular system helps free up harmful molecules in your blood vessels.

Conversely, when the body is exposed to cold temperatures, blood vessels constrict, reducing blood flow to the affected area. This reduction in blood flow can help to reduce swelling and inflammation, and promote healing by increasing the production of certain hormones and proteins that aid in tissue repair and brain protective benefits.

By alternating between hot and cold temperatures, contrast therapy helps to promote circulation and flush out toxins, while also reducing inflammation and promoting healing and weight loss. It is used for a variety of conditions, including recovery after exercise, detoxification from heavy metals, muscle and joint pain, insomnia arthritis, sports injuries and new studies have found compelling evidence of helping with anxiety and depression.
